Early Life and Education
Born and raised in Bukedea District, Anita's journey into leadership began with a strong foundation in education. She pursued her academic ambitions with dedication, earning a Bachelor of Laws degree, a Master of Business Administration with a specialization in Accounting, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Banking.
From 1998 until 2006Career before politics
From 1998 to 2006, Ms. Among held a position at Centenary Bank, one of Uganda's prominent commercial banks. By the time of her departure in 2006, she had advanced to the role of a branch manager.
In the decade leading up to her parliamentary election, she dedicated herself to academia, serving as a lecturer in accounting at both Makerere University Business School and Kampala International University.

She commenced her professional journey as a Branch Accountant at various branches of the Centenary Rural Development Bank, gaining invaluable insights into the world of finance and banking. Over time, she assumed roles of increasing responsibility, including that of a Branch Manager and Head Office Supervisor, where her leadership and financial acumen shone.
Her passion for education led her to take on roles as a Senior Lecturer at both Makerere University Business School and Kampala International University. In these positions, she imparted knowledge and shaped the minds of future leaders.

In 2021, she was appointed Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda, a position of great responsibility. In this role, she contributed to the parliamentary process and demonstrated her capacity to handle complex legislative matters.
Her crowning achievement came in March 2022 when she was elected as the Speaker of the 11th Parliament of Uganda. As Speaker, she presides over parliamentary proceedings, ensuring the principles of democracy, transparency, and accountability are upheld.
